Film screening of Funny Face (1957, dir. Stanley Donen, USA, 103 min). Maggie Prescott (Kay Thompson), editor of the fashion magazine Quality, is searching for a new face for the magazine. Fashion photographer Dick Avery (Fred Astaire) assists her and offers to choose bookshop assistant Jo (Audrey Hepburn) to be the next big thing, however, Jo is completely unimpressed with the fashion world. With his charm, Dick manages to convince Jo to become the model of the new issue, turning Jo’s life upside down. The film is made in the tradition of the classical musical genre. In it Hepburn wears clothes designed by Givenchy, while Astaire’s character is loosely based on photographer Richard Avedon.
