Applications open for Riga Photomonth Portfolio Review

The international photography festival Riga Photomonth 2016 welcomes applications for participation in the Portfolio Review. It is an opportunity for emerging and mid-career photographers to showcase their work to an exclusive group of professionals, including curators, festival directors, magazine editors and photographers. The Portfolio Review will take place in Riga, Latvia on May 13, 2016. Applications are accepted on a first come first served basis.

The Portfolio Review is well suited for those seeking professional feedback on their developed projects as well as those who are looking for guidance in their artistic practice. Portfolio Review is also a great opportunity to establish contacts with other professionals in the field, which may result in new exhibitions and publications in future.

 Experts that will be at your service include Kim Knoppers, curator at FOAM Photography Museum, Salvatore Vitale, the editor-in-chief of YET Magazine, Tim Clark, editor and publisher at 1000 Words Magazine and associate curator at Media Space at the Science Museum in London, Andrei Liankevich, the director of Minsk Month of Photography, Zane Onckule, the programme director of kim? Contemporary Art Centre, Mindaugas Kavaliauskas, the director of Kaunas Photo Festival, Vincent Marcilhacy, the editor and publisher of The Eyes Magazine, Laura Toots, the artistic director of Tallinn Photomonth, Anastasiia Fedorova, the commissioning editor of The Calvert Journal, Krzysztof Candrowicz, the artistic director of Triennial of Photography Hamburg in Germany and founder and director of the International Festival of Photography in Lodz, and Alnis Stakle, photographer, tutor and co-curator at Riga Photomonth.

The Portfolio Review will take place during the Riga Photomonth opening weekend. The festival will open on May 12 with an international exhibition co-curated by JH Engström, followed by talks, lectures and other events over the next three days.

Riga Photomonth is a biannual international photography festival that takes place in Riga, Latvia. Riga Photomonth explores and shows photography from Northern and Eastern Europe. The second edition of the Riga Photomonth will take place in May and June 2016, offering 8 exhibitions and more than 20 events under the common theme Territories, borders and checkpoints.

Riga Photomonth is organized by the association Riga Photomonth, ISSP and FK Magazine in collaboration with the Latvian Museum of Photography, Riga Film Museum, National Library of Latvia, Latvian Centre for Contemporary Arts, JCDecaux and other partners. Riga Photomonth 2016 is supported by ABLV Charitable Foundation, the State Culture Capital Foundation, Riga Municipality, Sony, the French Institute, US Embassy, Antalis and the Nordic Club House.
